Have Questions?
You're not alone. Planning a large celebration or a simple ceremony can be stressful. It's natural to have questions along the way. Below are some of the most common questions couples ask about working with Charleston Vows Elevated. Feel free to reach out if you don’t see your question listed, I’m always happy to help.
How far in advance should we book?
As soon as you know your date. I accept bookings up to 12 months in advance and often fill weekend dates quickly, especially during Charleston's busy wedding seasons in the spring and fall. Last-minute requests are always welcome when availability allows.
What happens after we submit an inquiry?
You’ll receive a same-day response confirming availability. If I’m already booked for your requested date, I’ll let you know right away so you can continue your search without delay. If I’m available, we can set up a virtual meeting or begin planning based on your preference.
Do you officiate non-religious or secular ceremonies?
Yes. I frequently officiate non-religious and secular ceremonies. I work with each couple to reflect their values and preferences, whether spiritual, interfaith, or entirely non-religious.
Can we write our own vows?
Absolutely. You are welcome to write your own vows. I can also offer tips and guidance on format, timing, and tone so that your words feel natural and meaningful within the ceremony.
Do you perform vow renewals?
Yes. I offer personalized vow renewal ceremonies for couples celebrating a milestone anniversary or simply wanting to reaffirm their commitment in a meaningful way.
Are you available for weekday ceremonies?
Yes. I officiate weddings seven days a week. Pricing varies based on whether your ceremony is scheduled for a weekday or weekend.
Do you attend rehearsals?
Yes. Rehearsal attendance is included with the formal ceremony package. I will review all important details with you in advance for smaller or informal ceremonies that do not require a rehearsal. If you prefer that I attend a rehearsal, and I'm available, I will be happy to do so. Let's discuss during our consultation.
Do you provide ceremony scripts in advance?
Yes. I will send you a draft of your custom ceremony script ahead of time. This gives you a chance to review, request edits, and feel fully comfortable with what will be said on your wedding day.
Can we include traditions, readings, or symbolic rituals?
Yes. I’m happy to incorporate meaningful elements such as readings, unity rituals, or cultural traditions. We will discuss what fits best during your consultation.
Are you legally authorized to perform weddings in South Carolina?
Yes. I am credentialed to officiate weddings in the state of South Carolina and will file your marriage license with the appropriate county office after the ceremony.
Do you file the marriage license after the ceremony?
Yes. Once the ceremony is complete, I will sign your marriage license and submit it to the county probate court for official processing.
What areas do you serve?
I officiate weddings primarily in Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties, although I am happy to travel within the state.
Do you travel for weddings outside the Charleston area?
Yes. I am available to travel beyond the Charleston metro area upon request. A small travel fee may apply depending on the location.
Do you discriminate on which couples you serve?
No. I proudly serve all couples. Charleston Vows Elevated welcomes people of all backgrounds, identities, and beliefs. If you are ready to get married, I am honored to help you do so with respect and care.
Are your fees negotiable?
My fees reflect the time and preparation that go into every ceremony. While I do not offer general discounts, I understand that budgets vary. If cost is a concern, I am happy to discuss your needs and explore available options.
We want someone special to us to lead the ceremony, but they are not legally authorized to perform weddings. What can we do?
This happens more often than you might think. If you have a loved one you want to speak or lead the ceremony, I can still serve as your legal officiant. As long as I am present and have met with you in advance to review the details, I can step in quietly at the right moment to handle the legal portion and file the paperwork.
We are planning something really wild and crazy. Are you willing?
Most likely, yes. I welcome creative ideas and out-of-the-box weddings. If your ceremony involves a unique location, themed attire, or an unconventional format, I am happy to hear your plan. As long as the event is safe, respectful, and legal, I will do everything I can to help bring your vision to life.
What will you wear to our wedding?
I typically wear a dark suit, white dress shirt, and conservative tie. That said, I am happy to adjust based on your preferences. If your style is casual, formal, themed, or somewhere in between, I can match the tone of your day. Jeans and a polo for a backyard ceremony? Overalls on a farm? Tuxedo at midnight on New Year’s Eve? Just let me know during our consultation.
What are your payment policies?
To reserve your date, a $50 non-refundable booking fee is required. This amount is credited toward your total service fee. Fifty percent of the remaining balance is due 48 hours before your scheduled ceremony. The final balance may be paid on the day of the event. I accept cash, checks, and most major credit cards.
If you need to reschedule, I’ll do my best to accommodate based on availability. In the event of a cancellation, any fees paid minus the $50 booking fee will be refunded.
